BABICH MARLBOROUGH SAUVIGNON BLANC 2006 ($16) Winemaker Adam Hazeldine used two Marlborough vineyards, one in Awatere Valley and the other in Waihopai Valley, to make this Sauvignon Blanc. A pungent nose of ripe tropical fruits overlaying zesty lemon and lime greet the taster. The nicely weighted and textured palate explodes with fruit and leads into a lengthy finish of nettles and lime. This is a powerful yet balanced and refreshing wine.
"Serves up concentrated, fleshy flavors of grapefruit, lime juice and intense minerality. Baby powder, wet gravel and a hint of jalapeo pepper linger on the finish. Drink now." Wine Spectator
